Bleib dir treu!
Als Autor steht man immer mal wieder vor der Frage, welches Genre soll ich bedienen? Romance und Liebesgeschichten? Krimi? Horror, Fantasy, Science Fiction oder Spaceopera? Die Antwort liegt nicht darin zu fragen, wo gerade die größte Nachfrage herrscht, um sich danach auszurichten. Die Mode wechselt. Was heute total hipp ist, kann morgen schon out sein. Wichtig ist, dem treu zu bleiben was man kann und wo man sich als Autor wiedererkennt. Das it immer besser, als sich zu verbiegen und eine Klientel mit Stoff zu versorgen, hinter dem man nicht zu hundert Prozent steht. Anstatt sich auf einem Terrain zu bewegen, das einem nicht liegt, nur um eventuell mehr Erfolg zu haben, wird meiner Meinung nach nicht gelingen. Am ende verkümmert das Gespühr für eben jenes Genre, für das das Herz schlägt. Dann wird der rfolg ausbleiben und die Freude am Schreiben ebenfalls.
Mein Rat ist,weiterhin mit aller Kraft an dem zu arbeiten, das dir die größerer Freude macht. Wenn du in dem was du machst immer besser wirst, kannst du viel eher eine Leserschaft gewinnen, die dich als authentisch betrachtet. Authenzität wird als sehr wichtig betrachtet. Sie verleiht dem, was du schreibst Sympathie. Erzeugt Sympathie. Auf diversen Conventions konnte ich mich davon überzeugen, welch immensen Stellenwert Sympathie besitzt. Sie fördert das Interesse an deiner Person, an deinen Büchern udn deinem Leben als Autor. Damit ist schon viel erreicht, was dich in deinem Werdegang als Autor weiterbringen wird.
Stay true to yourself!
As an author, you’re always faced with the question, which genre should I serve? Romance and love stories? Thriller? Horror, fantasy, science fiction or space opera? The answer is not to ask where the greatest demand is at the moment and then align yourself accordingly. Fashions change. What is totally hip today can be out tomorrow. The important thing is to stay true to what you can do and where you recognize yourself as an author. That’s always better than bending and supplying a clientele with material that you don’t stand behind one hundred percent. Instead of moving on a terrain that doesn’t suit you, just to possibly have more success, will not succeed in my opinion. In the end, the feeling for the very genre for which the heart beats atrophies. Then the success will be missing and the joy of writing as well.
My advice is to continue to work with all your strength on that which gives you the greatest pleasure. If you get better and better at what you do, you are much more likely to attract a readership that sees you as authentic. Authenticity is considered very important. It lends sympathy to what you write. Creates sympathy. At various conventions, I was able to see for myself the immense value that sympathy has. It promotes the interest in your person, in your books and your life as an author. This already achieves a lot, which will bring you further in your career as an author.
